2023 International Women's Day

Each year, March 8 is observed as International Women's Day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women from all around the world. The day also focuses on a call to action for accelerating gender parity and setting agendas and goals in achieving these targets.

The purpose of the day is to uphold women's achievements, recognize challenges, and focus greater attention on women's rights and gender equality to pay equity.

International Women's Day is commemorated in a variety of ways worldwide; it is a public holiday in several countries and is observed socially or locally in others to celebrate and promote the achievements of women. The UN observes the holiday in connection with a particular issue, campaign, or theme in women's rights.
