FAQs: Debonding Pitts 21 & Pro



We have received a question about debonding Pitts21 and Pitts21 PRO. Here are the answers we received from our Engineering department just in case you are asked.


Q: If an orthodontist debonds the Pitts21 or Pitts21 PRO without the 533-0400 Orthodontic Debonding Instrumentwill the bracket be damaged?

  • It depends on what kind of debonding instrument they are using but generally, it will not damage the bracket. (applies only to metal brackets). This said we do not recommend re-using the bracket.

Q: Specifically, would the slot be damaged?

  • The slot should not be damaged. (applies only to metal brackets)

Q: If an orthodontist debonds the Pitts21 or Pitts21 PRO using the 533-0400 Orthodontic Debonding Instrument will the bracket be damaged?

  • It will not damage the bracket (applies only to metal brackets) but we do not recommend re-using the bracket.

Q: Is there a reason a bracket would need to be debonded and then bonded again?

  • Brackets sometimes need to be repositioned during treatment but we do not recommend re-using the bracket.
